We’re not going to lie the last few months have been a mixture of hectic, stressful, exciting and a learning curve.
Back in April we showcased our new eTrike product – the electric power assist all terrain wheelchair to compliment our off road wheelchair offering to customers with limited mobility, but who still want to get outside to explore the great outdoors in comfort and style.
After 18+ months of design and development we were thrilled to show it off and response to the eTrike was better than expected – also for our eKit which can be fitted to our original lever drive all terrain wheelchair. The eTrike has joined our other products and has already received the top 5* product rating from Able Magazine!
We’ve learnt a lot over the last few months – dealing with new suppliers, changing lead times and boy, what we don’t know about lithium batteries – Tim even went on a 2-day training course through the aviation training institute, to take an exam on legislation and restrictions on travel with lithium batteries (certificate now takes pride of joy next to his Silver Medal Award of Outstanding Contribution to British Engineering Award!) – more can be found on that subject via our specific travel blog.
Anyway, through blood, sweat and tears (not really, but you know what we mean!) we’re thrilled that our first eTrike and eKit orders are now leaving our manufacturing unit and the wait for the first of our customer orders is finally over. We can’t thank our customers enough for their patience and understanding, but we are sure that the wait was worth it!
Our very first order was from one of our very first Mountain Trike customers who, quite frankly feels like family we have known her for so long! Caroline, who lives near Leeds in the UK decided that rather than ordering the eKit she would get herself some shiny new wheels.

Caroline has already fed back to say how much she has enjoyed being out on this thing of beauty and how it has, of course, turned heads. Holidays and guided walked tours, with added vroom, are already planned (she’ll be front of the pack)!
Yesterday, we loaded up the van and were able to deliver a few more – it was great to see more happy customers and hear about what they have planned.
In addition to the completion of eTrike orders, we’ve also been busy servicing and fitting the eKit to customers who have chosen to order the eKit to give extra umph to their lever drive Mountain Trike wheelchairs.

We are still beavering away at HQ building eTrikes (and our other products) so rest assured all other eTrike orders are on track for delivery.
