Access to Work grant (UK) for wheelchairs and mobility equipment

An Access to Work Grant can pay for practical support if you have a disability, health or mental health condition.  The grant is not for business start-up costs and how much you get depends on your circumstances.  The money doesn’t have to be paid back and will not affect your other benefits. You’ll need to have a good reason for needing an off-road wheelchair for work purposes – field work, conservation, construction, and other outdoor work could be relevant.  If you’re already working, if possible talk to your HR department.  Your employer, or you will need to contribute around 25% towards the chair. The MT Push, All Terrain Wheelchair now available at National Trust Brownsea Island

The Mountain Trike company manufacture all terrain wheelchairs to enable users to independently enjoy the great outdoors. As part of the companies development to further expand their product range in 2015 they launched the MT Push ‘a buddy’ chair and the MT Evo for users with limited hand function. The MT Push was primarily developed following discussions they’d been having with the National Trust who had been looking at off road capable vehicles to enable visitors access to their sites with outdoor space and gardens. Whilst they loved the Mountain Trike and could see the benefit of having a Mountain Trike available at certain locations, they felt their visitors would be more suited to an ‘attendant’ style chair to make their offering more inclusive.  Following prototyping and testing the MT Push was developed and launched.
