Information for the simplest technique for reversing the Mountain Trike / eTrike:
1. Pull handle up to disengage the drive
2. Rotate the handle to lock
3. Roll backwards by pulling the spokes of the wheels and controlling direction with the steering lever. These are usually clean and offer enough leverage to reverse.
As the Trike’s turning circle is very small, often reversing can be avoided, but on the rare occasions it is required, you tend to only go back a meter or so before re-engaging the drive and turning around.
A mechanism to enable reversing with the drive levers would add a great deal of weight, cost and complexity to the drivetrain which we found through extensive user testing isn’t necessary for the rare occasions reverse is required.
